Mixed Fortunes

11th Sep 2018

As the full season finally got under way there were mixed fortunes for all 4 of our teams this weekend.

Our First Team faced a well-organised St Margaretsbury Reserves, and although they found the going hard, came away with a 3-3 draw - Chas Bailey scored all 3 of Town's goals.

Our Reserves narrowly lost at Harpenden Rovers by 2 goals to 1, with Alex Hewer on target for Bunt.

Our Ladies played their first ever competitive match in the Beds and Herts Women's Football League and faced AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Ladies.

5-1 down at the half-time interval, Buntingford eventually lost 12-1, although the scoreline is by no means a reflection of the effort put in by the team who fought for the full 90 minutes.

Kirsty Frampton now goes down in the club's history as goalscorer of BTFC Ladies' first ever goal in a competitive match.

The Vets were away on tour at the weekend, and recorded their first win on their annual jolly-boys outing since 2012 (against Weston Pirates), beating Porchester Vets 3-2.

Nathan Searle, Matt Smyth and Mark Ward were on target for Town.

This year the tour match was played on a Saturday, a day earlier than usual; the debate now is, 'was this a deciding factor in the win'?
