A Good Performance.

20th Jul 2011

Despite eventually losing 3-2 to St Margaretsbury during last night's friendly we were pleased with what turned out to be a good performance from the club's first string.

There were a few signs of rust early on but Town soon settled into their stride during their first outing of the season, and the match was pretty even for much of the first half, with Max Camp starting the scoring, putting Buntingford 1-0 up on 25 minutes during a great period of play for the County League side.

St Margaretsbury equalised on the stroke of half time, but Town went ahead again within 15 minutes of the restart with a Chris Babbage penalty strike.

With just 10 minutes remaining the opposition drew level and then struck again almost immediately.

With little time left on the clock Town were unable to save the game, but this was an excellent performance against good opposition and bodes well for the forthcoming season.
