The Season's End.
10th May 2011
The final two matches of the season were played on Saturday, but what a difference between the two.
The First Team, away at champions Goffs Oak, have already secured 3rd place and should now get promoted, subject to the League's AGM.
Celebrations though were muted, when what should have been a happy day turned sour when goalkeeper Bobby White (pictured right) suffered a broken leg.
The referee quite rightly abandoned the game after Bobby was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
At the moment we are unsure if the League will ask us to play the fixture again, but with the score being 0-0 at the time and with both sides agreeing that a replay would be pointless (no League standings would be affected) we hope that the HSCL will exercise good judgement and let the result stand.
Bobby himself underwent a 7-hour operation on Sunday to fix a broken tibia and fibia.
We would like to wish him well and a speedy recovery from this unfortunate incident.
The Reserves recorded a splendid 3-1 victory over Bedmond Sports & Social to give them a final position of fourth in the League, with just goal-difference denying the side a potential promotion-giving 3rd place.
Over the last few matches we have seen the Reserves reach their potential and we have high hopes for this young side during the next campaign.
