The First League Win Will Come...
24th Aug 2009
The First Team's last two outings saw Buntingford draw 1-1 with AFC Hatfield Town and go down 4-2 at Harpenden Rovers.
Against Hatfield, Buntingford took the lead early into the second half thanks to an Adam Estherby goal, only to see hopes of all 3 points dashed 5 minutes from the final whistle.
On Saturday, a weakened side put in a sprited performance against Harpenden, recovering from a 1 goal deficit to lead 2-1 at half time thanks to cracking goals from Max Camp and Brett Leader.
Unfortunately the home side hit back with two goals in five minutes early into the second period and Town were unable to recover conceding the fourth some time later.
Nevertheless, both performances have shown that the side can cope at this level and the first league win will come sooner rather than later.
The Vets demonstrated their powers of recovery on Sunday when, at half time, the game against Buntingford Cougars Adults looked dead and buried with Town 3-1 down, having thrown away the lead provided by a Mark Ward strike.
Town defended resolutely during the second period and goals from Simon Blazey and James Niell saw the match levelled - an excellent performance against a non-veteran's outfit.
