Reserves hammer Warner.

7th Apr 2002

John Warner Reserves may be the new Division 3 champions, but they were humilated on Saturday by a Buntingford team which scored 8 goals - even though Town's leading goalscorer Duncan McHugh was not playing.

John Warner did not appear to be interested in playing football during this game, despite having just won the league.

Perhaps it was the fact that they had just lost 2 cup finals in a week, or that they thought Town would be a pushover; they certainly did not show us any respect and were punished severely for it.

4 goals from Mark Ward (who scored a hat-trick on the same ground when we beat them 5-4 last year) were among the highlights of a solid Buntingford performance which sees them move above Cottered to 3rd position in Division 3.
