Buntingford Drew 1-1

Palf on form between the sticks

Palf on form between the sticks

This week saw Chorleywood visit us at the Bury; earlier in the season we had beaten them 2-0, so we are looking for another win!

The game started off quickly with some intelligent passes which led to our first chance where Tommy’s cross was cleared off of Reece’s feet; our second chance came shortly after when Ross’s left footed shot was heading into the top corner but was saved by the keeper.

Chorleywood’s first chance was a scorpion kick that was gathered easily by Palf in goal.

Tommy’s cross found Reece who spun and got his shot away but the ball brushed the post and went wide.

The next opportunity came when a ball from Sid found Tommy and his venomous strike hit the cross bar and bounced straight into the keeper’s hands.

The last three chances of the first half all came for us with a shot from Robbie that hit the underside of the bar, a left footed curler from Nathan that went just over the top corner and a volley from Ross that went just wide.

Despite Town’s pressure, the half-time score remained 0-0.

At the start of the second half Chorley came out like a different team which forced Jacob to make a goal line clearance.

Their next big chance came for their No.11 which was a half volley that went just over; Nathan who had come on for the injured Sid, now found himself in the right back position and was forced to make a good challenge.

The first goal came for Chorley with a decent finish into the corner from their No.10.

The first and second yellow card went to Tom and Tommy for challenges that were late.

Our first opportunity of the second half came from a free kick into the bottom corner but the keeper got down low and made a fantastic save.

The goal that we had deserved came from a corner that caused havoc in the box finally ending in the back of the net.

It was unclear who scored, although the goalkeeper appeared to push the ball into his own goal, but who cares – 1-1!

Nathan and Matt had the last two opportunities of the game with a header from Matt that went just over and a shot from Nathan that also cleared the bar.

To summarise, we definitely didn’t take our chances and that cost us the game.

We have been getting some fantastic support, especially for home games at the Bury, and so Georgia Mills has been awarded ‘Fan of the Week’ – we could hear her cheering on the team for the whole game!
