New Year Blues
8th Jan 2017
A poor start to 2017 left the club suffering from New Year Blues.
The First Team led 1-0 at the half-time interval against Wormley Rovers, and during the second half retook the the lead just minutes after the opposition had equalised.
However, Wormley demonstrated great determination to get the job done, equalised again, and then scored the winner just minutes from time.
One plus from the game was a goal-scoring return to the club from Tom Fletcher, who added to Chris Babbage's first-half strike.
Buntingford's Reserves travelled all the way to Sarratt only to be defeated by the same 3-2 scoreline; Deckland Brown and Phil Fisher, with his first of the season, were on target for Town's second string.
The pitch at The Bury suffered a real beating on Saturday afternoon, and overnight rain put paid to any faint hope that the Vets would be able to play their first match, against Waltham Abbey, in the league's 'Premier' division.
Disappointing, but the right call, as the pitch would have been trashed had the game gone ahead.
