Reserves exit Intermediate Cup.
9th Jan 2012
On Saturday Town's Reserves went out of the Herts Intermediate Cup, going down 2-1 to Leverstock Green Reserves at The Bury.
Town's second string put in a great performance against a team that, on paper, should have been a much better side, and deservedly went a goal-up early in the second period.
Then, after 60 minutes, Jan Pearce was issued his second yellow card of the match and the opposition scored directly from the resulting free kick.
From then on it was backs to the wall for Buntingford as Leverstock Green pressed for the winner which came just 4 minutes from time.
Nevertheless, this was an extremely encouraging performance from Buntingford and the team looks forward to a return to league action this weekend.
With the First Team having no fixture it was down to Buntingford Vets to look for the only win for the club this weekend; this looked unlikely as the team trailed 2-0 at the half time break at Goldings.
But, an excellent second half performance saw a brace from Lee Grinyer plus another strike from James Neill secure Buntingford a well-deserved 3-2 victory.
