Town's Reserves progressed in this season's Herts FA Intermediate Cup on Saturday.
Laurence Salmon's team put in a stirling performance against Letchworth Garden City Reserves in Round 2 of the competition, and with the score level at 0-0 throughout, including extra time, a penalty shoot-out was all that could separate the sides.
Town won the nail-breaking finale by 5 goals to 4 with Tommy Faherty firing in the cup-tie winner; we look forward to the visit of Leverstock Green to The Bury on 17th December in the next round.
In the league the First Team beat St Peters at home, although not without a fright; with Town leading 4-1 with just 10 minutes left on the clock, St Peters put in a spirited performance and pulled the score back to 4-3 before referee Paul Carter finally blew the final whistle, much to Town's delight.
Buntingford face St Peters again this weekend and will need to show more composure against what will be fired-up opposition.
The Vets lost their home match against Bengeo Trinity on Sunday; the half time score of 5-1 meant that the match was all but over after 40 minutes, but to the side's credit Town won the second half 2-1, the final scoreline being 6-3 to the strong Bengeo outfit.
