Sweet & Sour.
4th May 2011
There were mixed feelings following an extraordinary weekend for the club.
First there was elation as a 6-0 victory over Bushey Rangers secured third-spot in the league for the First Team meaning that, subject to League approval, Premier Division football should be our well-deserved reward next season.
On the same day a 3-3 draw at Lemsford means that the Reserves go into this weekend's match against Bedmond Sports & Social Club knowing that victory will bring them level on points with third-place Harpenden Rovers who have a far superior goal difference.
On Monday the First Team had a chance to secure second spot in the league when they faced Mill End Sports at The Bury; 2-0 down at half time, Buntingford were not at their best but still in the game.
A third followied quickly though and there was an uncharacteristic collapse from the home side resulting in a 7-0 defeat.
It would be a shame to end the campaign on such a low and we hope that the prospect of a final game of the season at Division One champions Goffs Oak this Saturday is just the incentive each player needs, firstly to prove to himself that this result was a one-off and, secondly, to put in a performance worthy of a Premier Division side.
