The weekend saw a batch of missed opportunities as all 3 of the club's teams lost matches they really should have won.
On Saturday the First Team put in an excellent performance to go into the interval with a 0-0 scoreline at home to Harpenden Rovers; things looked even better as they went 2-0 up within minutes of the re-start!
Rovers pulled one back, but Town responded with a third and looked good for a famous victory.
Harpenden then showed great spirit and scored 3 before the final whistle, the winner coming in injury time much to the despair of players, management and supporters alike.
Harpenden have now won 7 of their last 8 matches and sit proudly at the top of the table.
Town's Reserves spawned a chance of 3 points and a further improvement in their league position by going down 2-0 at lowly Bushey Rangers in a below-par and uncharacteristic performance which left manager Laurence Salmon extremely frustrated.
The Vets looked certain of beating Standon & Puckeridge for the first time ever on Sunday with an excellent team performance, the best of the season so far, and for much of the game played the opposition off the park.
But, chances were all too often missed, and Standon made the most of theirs, scoring 2 goals in the final 10 minutes to run out as 3-2 victors.
