Intermediate Cup Exit.
23rd Nov 2009
Town's first string bowed out of the Herts Intermediate Cup on Saturday afternoon, going down 1-0 to Bishops Stortford Swifts.
Buntingford put in a feisty performance against a team which is some way above it in the Football Pyramid; despite going one goal behind during the first half the home supporters' hopes of an avalanche of goals were dashed thanks to a gutsy performance which will stand the side in good stead when it returns to league action at The Bury on Saturday.
The Reserves also faced tough opposition in the Chairman's Cup and went down 8-0 at HSCL Division One side Park Street Village; the team will be looking to put in a better performance at local rivals Standon & Puckeridge on Saturday.
Town's Vets were also in action over the weekend, playing Waltham Abbey Vets for the first time.
Abbey had a aquad of very experienced and accomplished players and when Town went a goal down within the first 15 minutes it seemed that the home side would run out as comfortable winners.
However, as the match progressed Town grew in confidence and were unlucky not to score themselves during the second period; Buntingford finished the tie in the ascendancy and were unfortunate to lose by the only goal of the match, putting in an excellent performance against a very good team.
