2009/10 Management Team.
30th Apr 2009
Following lengthy discussions over the last six weeks or so we are now pleased to announce that Darren Fitzgerald and Barry Tokely have accepted our offer to manage the club's first team squad next season.
Both qualified coaches, Barry and Darren have a long association with Buntingford Cougars Youth Football Club and we are sure that their experience in such a well-run and respected organisation will bring great benefits to our club.
Darren is currently the Cougars' chairman and also manages the U14's.
Barry, along with Mick Nolan, took his Cougars squad right through from the U7 stage into senior football; he then went on to form the Cougars Adults side which has had two championship-winning seasons in the East Herts Corinthian Sunday Football League.
What was most pleasing about these appointments is that Barry and Darren will not be chasing success at all cost but hope to build a sustainable squad over the next three years; this long-term view gives us a great opportunity to rebuild our club.
Darren and Barry both recognise that success doesn’t just have to be measured in results alone; it also comes from running a club people want to be part of.
The appointments also fit in nicely with Buntingford Town FC’s long-held objective to work more closely with the Buntingford Cougars and to fully support The Bury, the town’s football facility, and we have great pleasure in welcoming the two of them to our organisation.
Management of the Reserves next season will still be undertaken by Laurence Salmon, who, along with coach Tyrone Parry, has seen his squad of players improve steadily during the last campaign.
Having had their best season ever our Veterans will also continue with the same management team, namely Robin Clark and Ben Hewer.
