Saturday saw a disappointing exit from the Aubrey Cup as the club saw this season's last chance of a trophy fade away, Steve Foster's plans being scuppered by last minute phone calls causing him to bring in a number of new players in order to fulfill the fixture.
Chipperfield Corinthians deservedly progressed to the semi-final stage with a 5-0 victory, although Town's makeshift line-up fought solidly throughout the game and, were it not for a well-saved penalty at 2-0 down, the outcome could have been more satisfying.
The Reserves, who lost 5-2 against second-place Letchworth Baldock Town, put in a fine performance and were the better side for two 15-minute periods of the game; unfortunately lack of composure in front of goal led to the inevitable defeat.
Standon and Puckeridge rubbed the club's nose in it for the third time in as many weeks on Sunday by beating the Vets 6-0, scoring 5 of their goals in the second period.
The defences of all 3 of our teams need to be tightened up before this weekend's fixtures!
